1/4 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 cups sifted flour
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Heavy-duty aluminum foil
